TS Govt to regularise 3,670 Jr Lecturers on contract: TS Govt Deputy CM and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari has announced that the government would regularise the 3,670 contract lecturers in the govt junior colleges across the State. About 90 per cent of vacancies can be filled up through regularisation of the contract lecturers.”  This decision of the government was welcomed by the Telangana Government Colleges Contract Lecturers’ Association General Secretary K Suresh and we are thankful to Chief Minister K Chandrsekhar Rao for taking a decision on regularisation of lecturers.  This decision will now make other States also to think about regularisation of the contract staff,” he added.

While the latest move of the government has been welcomed by the contract lecturers’ association, this move is likely to trigger large-scale protests in all Universities. The Deputy Chief Minister said that transfers and promotions of the government junior lecturers would be done during summer vacation. He emphasised the need to improve teaching standards in the government colleges. Stating that the government had aimed to enrol two lakh students in government junior colleges in the next academic year, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “Every year there is a migration from government to private colleges. With announcement of free education in the government colleges last year, there is a reverse migration from private to government colleges.”

The Deputy Chief Minister announced that all government junior colleges would be provided with toilets, water plants, and laboratories before commencement of next academic year. All the government colleges would have CCTVs and biometric system before beginning of the next academic year. “There should be some regulation on the students and lecturers attendance.  Without the regulation we cannot improve the standards in the colleges,” he said. The Deputy Chief Minister said the Board had already made 22 of its services online. Government Junior Lecturers Association,  Telangana, President, Dr P Madhusudhan Reddy said about 800 private colleges in the State registered zero admission during the current academic year. “This means that more number of students are enrolling in the government colleges,” he said.(HansIndia-Source)
